Although very little is known about the D&M Restaurant, it was located at 47 N. Howard from at least 1950-56, as the restaurant listed ads in the Akron Beacon Journal across those years. The ads sought an experienced morning cook, black preferred. They also sought an experienced waitress, white or black.
From a 1960 obituary also in the Akron Beacon Journal, Dennis Stouffis is named as the former operator. Because the restaurant hired African Americans, we assume that they were served here as well; further research must be done.
