Louise’s Tailor Shop

Louise’s Tailor Shop was located at 665 Edgewood Avenue in Akron in the late 1930s and early 1940s. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Malone were either guests or residents of this location, according to a 1937 Call and Post article. One of their daughters was married to the owner of the Times Grocery Store, which possibly operated from the 665 Edgewood Avenue location as well. Very little information can be found about this shop. A few advertisements are listed in the Call and Post in 1936 and 1937, as well as a general listing under the heading Cleaning and Pressing in the 1940 Akron Negro Directory. Wood’s Ice Cream Parlor is also listed at this address in an advertisement in a 1937 issue of the Call and Post.
